Songs & Stories from a Great American Troubadour
One could easily compare John Prine’s story-songs with Mark Twain’s storytelling: deceptively simple, yet utterly profound.
Just before his passing, John Prine received a 2020 Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award for being one of the most influential songwriters of his generation. To honor his legacy, Pat Guadagno, a revered member of the Historic Jersey Shore music scene, and Rex Fowler, co-founder of the acclaimed folk/rock duo Aztec Two-Step, have created an impressive tribute show that highlights two of Prine’s most impressive songwriting attributes: humor and poignancy.
The show also features distinguished musicians and singers from Pat’s and Rex’s touring bands including ATS’s lead guitarist and vocalist Dodie Pettit, whose former Broadway credentials included three Tony Award-winning musicals: CATS, Titanic, and The Phantom Of The Opera. Other band members include Arlan Feiles on piano and vocals, Gary Oleyar on fiddle and mandolin, Joe Makoviecki on acoustic guitar and vocals and Steven “Muddy” Roues on double bass and harmonica.
Over their long and celebrated careers, Pat and Rex have garnered well deserved critical acclaim and shared stages with countless national recording artists including Bruce ‘Whats-His-Name.’ So, if you like great songs and storytelling, come see why Jersey’s own Vin Scelsa of Idiots Delight fame said this about Pat and the Souvenirs show: “Talk about breathing new life into old chestnuts… this is BIG TIME!”
Bottomless Lake, Dear Abby, Souvenirs, Let’s Talk Dirty In Hawaiian, Pretty Good, Far From Me, Clay Pidgeon, That’s The Way, When I Get To Heaven, Quit Hollerin’ At Me, Please Don’t Burry, I Just Wanna Dance, Angel From Montgomery, Sam Stone, In Spite of Ourselves, Spanish Pipedream, Illegal Smile, Paradise, and Hello In There.
